Many girls are interested learning beauty or bridal make up course in Penang, Malaysia. The girls love to improve themselves in beauty and bringing out the best in them. However, some girls do ask me whether they can make a full time living servicing make up for people.
Make up scene in Malaysia is a little way behind compared to USA or other countries. Here we do not specialize in special effects for movies or do much fantasy make up compared to overseas. However, if you are looking to earn a living doing make up services for bridal makeup, then it is possible to earn a very good income.
On average, a full bridal make up services in Penang will cost on average RM400 for both afternoon and night make up. This is about 4 hours work. You have to prepare your own make up set and usually drive to the bride’s house for the make up session. In Kl the market is more expensive. Be prepared to earn RM1000 for one day event day and night make up.
Prior to that, usually you can ask the bride to be to do a mock up session so both of you will be prepared for the big day itself. Here a make up artist can earn another extra RM250 on average.
How about personal make up services then? If you are doing freelance, you can charge easily RM80 for a night make up with hair session if you go to their place. Usually they will bring their friends alone, and you can probably manage 2 customers for that evening bringing your income to RM160.
For local scene make up for example in local cinema production or drama, you can be a full time make up and hair stylist and ask average of RM2500 salary. When you are better and work yourself up, you will be working with more professional models, actresses and actors and you can demand more. Don’t be surprised that you can earn easily RM4000 a month doing full time and part time services as well.
Basically, beauty market is always a demand, everyone goes for wedding, celebration, party and they want to look beautiful.
